Dates Vermicelli Kheer.

If you are bored with same regular way of making your vermicelli kheer(semiya payasam) here is something different for you!Yay! How will be the addition of dates in it?Do try it to know that….hehe!


Here we all love semiya..Especially Kashif and when he’s fasting i want to make something special and healthy for him and here it is! Not like it can beat the taste of original semiya kheer,but something different and yumm….

Addition of cooked and pureed dates bring it to another level..Hope you all like it and give it a try!

Ingredients

  • 15 to 20 dates
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 & 1/2 cup thin semiya/vermicelli
  • 3 cups Milk 
  • 1/2 tin condensed milk/sugar(accordingly)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence
  • 2 tsp Ghee 
  • Some cashews,kismis & Walnuts
Method

  1. Remove the seeds of dates.In a pan put the dates and 1/2 cup of water and cook until the dates are soft and water are completely reduced.When it’s cool enough grind it to a smooth paste by adding some milk in it.
  2. In a sauce pan pour ghee roast all the dry fruits and keep it aside.
  3. If your vermicelli is not roasted roast it until golden brown.(I used thin vermicelli)
  4. Then pour 1/2 cup water in it to settle down the vermicelli.
  5. Then add milk and cook it.When the milk comes to a boil simmer it and add pureed dates in it and mix well add condensed milk or sugar as per your taste.Mix well and cook until it’s thick or desired consistency you need.Add vanilla essence and switch off the flame.
  6. While serving add all the roasted dry fruits and kismis…
