Strawberry Tiramisu.
Ever tried this yummilicious dessert? If no then you have to!Yes its something different from classic tiramisu! The classic tiramisu is made with dark flavour of coffee. But I am not sure here (in my home)that works or not,so tried it with strawberry and only in one serving made with coffee!I swear we love the strawberry one!
Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert means “Pick me Up”(that suits well) .It has a dark coffee flavour and the rich, creamy custard of mascarpone cheese and egg yolks. But I don’t want raw egg in my pudding so replaced it with custard powder and made a thick custard. Then I used cream cheese and whipped cream to make this custard.
Strawberries are in season so its time to experiment some interesting desserts and drinks with this lovely fruit. Here I used strawberry puree and sweetened it with some sugar to dip the sponge fingers(instead of coffee).then a layer of custard and the same process.Frankly speaking I was not confident while making it,but finally it turned out yummyy!
Ingredients
- Ladies finger biscuits or Vanilla sponge cake
For strawberry puree
- 12 to 18 Strawberries
- 1/4 to half cup sugar(according to your sweet tooth)
- 2 tblsn strawberry syrup
For custard
- 2 cup milk
- 1/2 tin condensed milk
- 2 tblspn custard powder diluted in 4 tblspn milk
- 1 tspn vanilla essence
For whipping
- 8 to 10 cube Cream cheese
- 2 sachet whip cream powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- Icing sugar for sweetness
Method
- First you have to make custard and keep it in refrigerator and let it cool completely.Custard must be thick enough it should not be runny!
- Now blend together all the ingredients under strawberry puree with 1/2 cup of water.Check for sweetness and add if its still sour. Consistency must be somewhat like this:
- Don’t make it too thin.
- Now take out the cream cheese and whip it and loosen it add 3 tblspn icing sugar and beat.In another bowl cream the whip cream powder with half cup milk until its stiff and fluffy. Now beat both whip cream and cream cheese together .Take out the custard (don’t add all at one go I added only 3/4t of them) and mix it with the cream cheese mixture and beat well all together just to combine.Check for sweetness and add icing sugar if need ,also add some vanilla.Your Custard is ready now.
Assembling
- Ladyfingers or basic vanilla sponge cake.(you can also make vanilla sponge using this batter). The difference is all in shape so no worries if you don’t have those biscuits.
- Dip the biscuits or cake in the strawberry puree and layer it.
- Then add generous amount of the custard and even it out with a spatula and the repeat the process.
- Last pour some strawberry syrup on top and let it set in refrigerator for 6 to 8 hours.
If you are making coffee flavoured just replace the strawberry syrup with coffee concoction.(1 tblsp coffee diluted in hot water with some sugar).
Try this its really worth! If you like the bitterness in your sweet dessert and for that bite you can also add chunks of strawberries while layering.
