Chicken Bread

Chicken bread is a soft, golden-brown bun generously filled with a creamy, flavorful chicken mixture – has always held a special place in my heart. There’s something so comforting about the combination: the pillowy texture of freshly baked bread paired with the rich, savory filling that melts in every bite.

This recipe is more than just food for me; it carries memories. I baked it for the very first time almost 10 to 13 years ago, back when I was just beginning to explore the world of baking. I still remember the sense of excitement as the aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, and the joy of cutting into it to reveal that luscious chicken filling inside. Over time, it became one of my signature recipes – something I would often bake for family gatherings, tea parties, or simply to surprise loved ones.

Ingredients

  • 4cups all purpose flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp.sugar
  • 1 tbsp.yeast
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water

Knead well to a soft dough

For filling

  • 400gm boneless chicken
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1tb sp soy sauce
  • 1tsp g&g paste
  • Oil To shallow fry
  • 2 medium sized onions
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 heaped tbsp apf
  • 2 or 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tbsp cream
  • some mozzarella cheese
  • coriander leaves

Method

KNEAD THE DOUGH TO A SOFT PLIABLE ONE..Cover and keep it in a warm place for proofing,

  1. Marinate boneless chicken with salt, pepper, g&g and soy sauce. Shallow fry it,
  2. In the same pan add the butter, add greenchilies. onion and cook until soft.
  3. Add the bell pepper and cook for a few minutes. Add the spices and chicken mix well, then add the flour and cook for a minute.
  4. Pour the milk and let it cook and thicken, add the cream and cheese, lastly some oregano and mix well, Cool it before you stuff it inside the bun.

  6. Cover and keep it in a warm place for proofing. Egg wash it and bake it@180 degrees preheated oven for 15 to 20 mins until brown.
