So here is a yummilicious tasting payasam or kheer with carrot and apple. Healthy and tasty. My son love payasams!(even i)but I only use to make semiya payasam and rice kheer! This one while making he was asking me why are you making payasam with carrot and i was like oh no!But as usual he loved it !Yeah so it’s a success.Hubby too loved it!
For preparing this, grate carrots and apple then saute it with in ghee along with some sugar then cook it in milk and sugar. Its yum and simple. There is no much effort like normal payasam! Also added boiled sago!

Ingredients

  • 2 large carrots
  • 1 n half apple
  • 1 handful sago
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp sugar (more as per your sweet tooth)
  • 10 to 15 cashew nuts
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tspn cardamom powder

Method

  1. Soak sago and cook it and keep it aside.
  2. Grate carrots and apples.
  3. In a sauce pan pour ghee and fry the cashew.Take out when its done.
  4. If need add 1 more tspn ghee in the same pan and saute grated carrots and apples along with 2 tbsp sugar and cook it for a while.
  5. Add 1/2 cup milk and let it boil.Take out some of the carrots and puree it and keep
  6. Now add rest of the milk and let it boil, cook and reduce. when its half done and add sugar and mix well.Stir in between.
  7. Then add the carrot puree, boiled sago ,cardamom and cook for a while stirring frequently.Switch off the flame when it comes to the desired consistency! The kheer will be ready within 30 minutes.

Garnish with fried nuts!

Note : If you don’t want to see the grated carrots pulse it all after sauteing it and cook with the milk.
You can also add milkmaid instead of sugar.
If you don’t like sago add boiled vermicelli. It will be more tastier!

Serve it warm or cool!

Relish the goodness of this payasam!

Happy Cooking!
