Veg & Prawn Samosa


I know nothing fancy in it,but fillings are different for all!I think samosas are one snack that no one can resist!Crispy samosas with some spicy filling is really what we need,right?Everyone has their own filling.Here i’m sharing my samosa filling with you all!


Samosas are prepared in many of the countries with their own twist!In Arabic countries it’s cheese and keema filling.In India it’s with aloo(potato)and many more variations!I use veg and prawn filling.If you don’t like prawns replace it with chicken.During Ramadan samosas are full in action!hehe!Actually it’s said that to avoid fried items and eat some simple food while breaking fast, but still people prefer such foods!Will try to upload some non fried appetizers!

Here prawns are first marinated and then cooked and all other veggies and masalas are cooked in same oil…It’s really a flavourful filling instead of only veggie,this one is yum!


Ingredients

  • Samosa leaves 
  • Prawns 1/4 kg 
  • Salt 
  • 1 tsp chilly powder 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 2 medium onion 
  • 3 green chilly 
  • 1 tsp ginger 
  • 1 tsp garlic 
  • 1 big carrot 
  • 1 potato 
  • Few beans 
  • 1/2 to 3/4 th cup cabbage 
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder 
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder 
  • 3/4 tsp garam masala 
  • 1 tsp lemon juice 
  • Lots of coriander leaves 
  • 3 tbsp oil

Method

  1. Marinate prawns with salt,chilly powder and turmeric powder cook and shallow fry it. 
  2. In same oil add finely chopped onion,green chilly,ginger,garlic and cook for few minutes. 
  3. Then add all the finely chopped veggies and cook by stirring in between.As we are adding potato it tends to stick to the bottom of the pan. 
  4. When the veggies are half done add powders,and mix well and cook.Add cooked prawns in the masala.and mix well.Lastly add garam masala,lemon juice and lots of finely chopped coriander leaves. 
  5. Here ready your spicy prawn filling. 
  6. Fill it in samos leaves and deep fry. 
  7. One tip to retain the crispiness of samosa are don’t fry it on high flame,Fry it on medium flame with all your patience!hehe!You will get a crispy,crunchy samosa.

Note:If your prawns are big just pulse it in a mixer or cut it into small pieces.
In this filling i love the addition of potato as it give a sticky filling to the samosa.
